The Bible states that we are made in the image of God.  However, clearly we are created in a physical body with limitations.  God is eternal, perfect, all-knowing, wise, and powerful; infinite in ability.  He does not change, and functions in absolute truth and love.

Below are some scriptures that help us to get a view of who God is, and what He is like.  

The Lord descended in the cloud and stood there with him as he called upon the name of the Lord. Then the Lord passed by in front of him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth;   Exodus 34:5-6

The Rock! His work is perfect,
For all His ways are just;
A God of faithfulness and without injustice,
Righteous and upright is He.   Deuteronomy 32:4

As for God, His way is blameless;
The word of the Lord is tried;
He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.   Psalm 18:30

For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
The Lord gives grace and glory;
No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly. 

O Lord of hosts,
How blessed is the man who trusts in You!   Psalm 84:11-12

But You, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness and truth.   Psalm 86:15

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne;
Lovingkindness and truth go before You.   Psalm 89:14

The Lord is good to all,
And His mercies are over all His works.   Psalm 145:9  

And one called out to another and said,

“Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of hosts,
The whole earth is full of His glory.”   Isaiah 6:3

“To whom then will you liken Me
That I would be his equal?” says the Holy One. 

Lift up your eyes on high
And see who has created these stars,
The One who leads forth their host by number,
He calls them all by name;
Because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power,
Not one of them is missing.   Isaiah 40:25-26

For thus says the high and exalted One
Who lives forever, whose name is Holy,
“I dwell on a high and holy place,
And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit
In order to revive the spirit of the lowly
And to revive the heart of the contrite.   Isaiah 57:15

“For I, the Lord, do not change;   Malachi 3:6a

God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.   John 4:24

And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,   Hebrews 1:3  (about Jesus)

Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.   James 1:17

The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.   2 Peter 3:9

This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.   1 John 1:5
