What Next?
If you sincerely prayed the salvation prayer, I rejoice with you!
You can rest assured that God has forgiven you, and His Spirit (the Holy Spirit) now lives in you to teach, lead, comfort, and strengthen you, amongst other things.
You have been born again spiritually from on high. Just as a baby must physically grow, learn and mature, you need to learn and mature over time to effectively live as a citizen of heaven. You are a child of God now. Below are some key ways to help you grow.
- Talk to God each day. This can involve giving Him thanks for things, seeking His wisdom and direction in daily life, and praying about your or others’ needs. Wait on God a bit too, to learn to hear Him when He speaks to you.
- Read the Bible each day. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand the scriptures and, with His help, live according to God’s truth.
- Attend a good church regularly (see the ‘Finding a Good Church’ information on this website). In time you could serve God in church in some way. This is not to earn anything, but rather just out of gratefulness to God.
- A very positive experience is to pray with others e.g. a prayer group, for members’ needs, or whatever the Lord raises within the group. Godly, unselfish prayers are His delight to answer.
- You may have opportunities to sensitively share with others about God and your own experiences with Him, His Word, etc. This needs to be done in love, wisely though.
- Give financially to God’s work in the earth. He loves to bless those who do. Many churches still acknowledge the ‘tithe’ which is ten percent of your earnings as a good place to start, but it is up to you.
All of the above will bring you closer to God, mature you as a Christian, and help you to be a blessing to others.
